Hong Kong Space Museum | Planet of Wonder in a Binary Star System Lecture
Description
In a recent discovery, an international scientific research team led by a Hong Kong scholar has confirmed the existence of a retrograde planet in a binary star system in the constellation Octans. A retrograde planet is one that orbits in a direction completely opposite to that of its parent binary star. This astonishing finding is a first in observational history!
The lecture will review the history of the exoplanet hypothesis, introduce the team's observation and analysis methods, and explain how this discovery challenges our traditional understanding of the formation and evolution of planetary systems.
No reservation is required. Admission is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. This lecture will be held onsite and will not be live-streamed.
